My mom has recently been my biggest cheerleader in life. She has been fully supportive of me and the accomplishments that I have made thus far. There are many things that I have done that she didn't always agree with or fully understand but remained supportive as long they were positive and contributed to my happiness. No she was not the kind of mom that came to any of my track or cross country meets but she was the kind of mom that was there when I suffered from an episode of depression in high school and held me when I would cry over my battle with chronic constipation. So yes, she wasn't always there to cheer me on during my best but she was always there to comfort me during my worst. Now it's my turn to be supportive and become her cheerleader as I help her through this journey to a healthier lifestyle. This is her worst in regards to her health. I know the struggles of being overweight and the dangers that come with them if her weight persists uphill. We started jogging yesterday and I was proud of her motivation. Today we jogged the same path and she shed 6 minutes off her time and it made me realize how much alike we are. She is a not a quitter when her mind is made up, she fought through and pushed past her limits. With only a few months left before I leave the country, I am 100% dedicated and committed to her and her personal health goals. She is ready for change and that's the best place to start.Who are you cheering on today? Who are you making happy aside from yourself? Don't forget about lending people a hand especially those that have repeatedly lent theirs to you when you weren't always your very best.

Beautiful sentiments PhaiDa. I am blessed to have been a witness to your evolution from lil caterpiller to graceful butterfly. Continue to teach & demonstrate only love. The world may tempt us all to belive otherwise but it is the precious gift of our time & presence that matters most. Your mother too has inner & outter grace & beauty. You are helping her to heal & shine her light. I look foward to reading all about the good works you will perform in Tanzania. I hope to join you there someday for an extended visit & to share with & learn from your people the wisdom we might share with one other. My love & admiration to you & your mom. Keep blogging!

Very impressive Phai. We all yearn for love in one way or another and we should show and share it in any way we know best. Mom will make it through the battle and come out good just like you have. God bless you both.
